I am so excited about getting back to school and getting back to Social Studies. I hope everyone is well rested and is equally excited as I am to get back to school and begin what I call "The Final Stretch". Believe me, at Highland we work and learn until the final day and this last month and a half of school will go by so quick and is jammed packed with testing and many extracurricular activities as well as extra school day activities. Students need to get plenty of rest and eat healthy to reach their fullest potential during this busy time.
In Social Studies we will first review the U.S. government as well as our rights and responsibilites as citizens of the U.S. Then we will be studying The Westward Expansion where we learn about "Manifest Destiny" and the War of 1812.
